Steroids are potent anti-inflammatories and modulate the excessive immune response leading to your dog's symptoms of bronchial disease. They are generally used on a daily or twice daily basis to prevent airway hypersensititvity and reduce the stimulus to cough.
Bronchodilators cause the airways deep down in the lungs to dilate and so relieve the airway narrowing which happens with chronic bronchial disease. They can either be used twice daily as prophylaxis or more commonly in an acute crisis to relieve severe bronchospasm.
Breatheazy does not endorse the use of any particular inhaled product.
All pet owners should consult with their veterinarian as to which medication is most suitable for their dog.
